Cells Vertical Garden investigates the potential of plants to grow vertically in artificial substrates, without any soil. Plastic filter mats, developed for industrial cleaning of exhaust air, proofed to be suitable for these hydroponic conditions with a panel thickness of only 5cm. 40 commercially available plant species were selected and tested. A selection of most suitable species were applied to exhibited prototype.

A further aspect examined is the graphic potential of differently shaped and coloured leaves, both between species and varieties.
