The garden design for a new two family house overlooking Vienna Woods responds to the surrounding landscape and the transition from densely vegetated, private and “Gardenesque” cultivated garden surrounding the building to open fields and agricultural area, where cultivated lawn merges with grassland.
The strict geometrical forms of the built form (the Family Residence) are connected to the terrain by a series of terraces cascading into the open fields and the vista. The intervening gesture of terracing transitionally integrates the garden into the surrounding landscape, which, on the other hand, is visually made part of the garden itself.
